Surviving traumatic brain injury
Welcome to BeyondTBI.org, my name is Daniel Yair Johnson and in the summer of 2005 I was labeled as a TBI Survivor after being involved in a car accident that sent me to a hospital where I spent several months during the initial stages of my recovery… I had no problem with being called a survivor in the beginning, because yes, I did survive a traumatic event; but after I left the hospital I really just got sick of the title of “survivor” because to me I feel it is limiting.
I feel it is limiting as it references the past.
I live in the present and am
MORE than surviving, I am THRIVING!
My goal with this website is to create a place, a community, where people that are going through similar experiences have a place to share their stories and experiences while being recognized for who they are and what they do.
The purpose of this website is to support each other on our journey, from surviving to THRIVING. It’s not just about surviving traumatic brain injury, it’s THRIVING Beyond it and excelling through life regardless of the curve balls thrown at us or the bumps in the road we may have already been through, are going through or will go through.
